After discussing photography with Marv Kaplan, one will not have to ask what drives his passion. “People look and don’t see” is the first thing he will say when describing his work. “All I am doing is showing you what you look at everyday. I did realize that I would have to come up with some way to get your attention as you you didn’t see what you were looking at in the first place”, he comments with a laugh. “I have been asked about my technique though I prefer to call it exaggeration or even better, amplification. The composition is what it’s all about but it might be the amplification that has you looking at it.” Marv is quite passionate as he talks about his art. His technique makes it very difficult to look away from his photographs. They are stories with movement, a strong variety of color and angles from an extremely sharp eye. “I remember”, he said, “When you would hear someone say that a photo was too grainy. I saw it quite differently as I felt what they viewed as grainy I viewed as having more character. more depth.” He photographs quite an extensive variety of subjects but will admit when prodded, that dogs bring an excitement that is solely theirs. It seems that with every dog photo, he has nailed their personality to even a greater excitement for the dog’s owner. ”I want the dog to be in their own environment, their backyard or maybe their favorite park. I will run around with them and make sure they are happy and comfortable. Anyway, it works!” Marv can be commissioned for any of your photo needs. You can see some of his work displayed at Shoe Cafe of Newtown, 11B Centre Avenue, Newtown, PA 215-378-3048 Marv’s work is in many homes but you can see his photos in restaurants like “The Knight House” in Doylestown, PA and “The Black Horse Tavern” in Newtown, PA
